Cunard Queen Elizabeth

Year Built:
Tonnage:
Passenger Capacity:
Ship Rating

The Queen Elizabeth, Cunard’s latest luxury liner, set sail in 2010, after being named by Her Majesty The Queen. Since that point, this Signature-Class vessel, the second-largest on the water, has received multiple accolades and has become a passenger favorite.

Although modern grandness frames the experience, the Queen Elizabeth alludes to 1930s’ vessels with Art Deco touches, live music in the Grand Lobby, and an emphasis on theater and dancing in the Grand Ballroom.

Since making its debut, the Queen Elizabeth has traveled through the Mediterranean, the British Isles, and Northern Europe and completed multiple world cruises and transatlantic voyages.

Living Arrangements & Dining

For 2,092 passengers, the Queen Elizabeth is designed with 1,046 cabins, with 85 percent offering outside views and 71 percent with balconies.

Beyond the standard accommodations are the various Grill Suites, which range in size from 335 to nearly 600 square feet, Grand Suites (1,375 square feet), and Master Suites (1,493 square feet).

Living arrangements correlate with dining options. Four main dining rooms, an alternative restaurant, the Lido Buffet, and various specialty options, like the Golden Lion Pub, are scattered throughout. Standard level passengers eat at the two-tier Britannia Restaurant, which features the Britannia Club for those in the Grill classes. As well, two more Grill restaurants expand the dining possibilities for those in this class.

While the Golden Lion Pub is the perfect spot for watching the game as you eat and Lido offers 24-hour casual dining, The Verandah is the ship’s alternative venue. Here, contemporary French cuisine exposes you to delectable, delicate continental flavors, with all ingredients sourced from France.

Activities

As the Queen Elizabeth’s built for dancing, two venues offer passengers the opportunity of doing the foxtrot or waltz to live music. The Garden Lounge, a socializing room visually based on the glass houses of Kew Gardens in London, is open for white glove afternoon tea and transitions into dancing for the evenings. The Queens Room, a larger space, features a wood floor and stage, with murals and other artwork surrounding along the perimeter. During your cruise, you’ll go here for the Royal Nights Themed Ball.

Of course, when you’re ready to take your dancing shoes off, the Queen Elizabeth presents other large-scale entertainment options. Try your hand at the Empire Casino, or watch a stunning production from the Royal Cunard Company in the Theatre. Lounges like the Yacht Club and Commodore Club offer a bit of respite from the hustle-and-bustling atmosphere, so head over to either when you want to relax with a drink.

Like many luxury cruise lines, Cunard enhances the Queen Elizabeth with enrichment opportunities. Attend computer, iPad, and social media seminars, sit through an art talk, or listen to a guest lecturer through the Cunard Insights program.

During the day, the Queen Elizabeth presents more opportunities for relaxing. If your idea is spending a day getting pampered and massaged, the Royal Spa has just the right atmosphere. Select from an award-winning menu of therapies and beauty treatments, or lounge in the Royal Bathhouse Thermal Suite to de-stress and rejuvenate yourself.

If you’re more the outdoorsy type, the Games Deck paints the perfect settings, with an atmosphere mirroring the English countryside. Stop by this spacious area to play a game of croquet, bowls, or paddle tennis.

Or if you’d rather be on High Street, come by the Royal Arcade, a shopping area based on London’s Burlington Arcade. Here, you’ll find brands seen nowhere else at sea, and can purchase gifts and clothing from the Cunard Signature Collection.

Experience the transatlantic voyages of decades past with many modern amenities onboard the Queen Elizabeth. To book your trip today, see all available itineraries through Direct Line Cruises.
