The Newly Renovated Norwegian Spirit
The Norwegian Spirit has undergone a $100 million renovation as part of The Norwegian Edge program, designed to update and elevate the standard of the fleet.
I love the variety of restaurants on a Norwegian ship but the Spirit was definitely lacking in this area. It’s good to hear they added additional complimentary dining venues such as another main dining room, Taste; the 24-hour eatery, The Local Bar and Grill; the all-day dining outlet, Garden Café; the Great Outdoors Bar; and Waves Pool Bar. I was particularly excited to see the addition of the specialty restaurant Onda by Scarpetta (Onda, which is Italian for “wave,” will combine a classic approach to old-world fare, including using in-house-made pasta, with its own signature seafood dishes, to offer a new take on Italian cuisine).
Also making their debut are Bliss Ultra Lounge and Spinnaker Lounge, which features the Humidor Cigar Lounge, and an adults-only retreat, Spice H2O, a daytime lounge featuring two new hot tubs and a dedicated bar, which transforms into an after-hours entertainment venue.
The Mandara Spa doubled in size and now boasts a new thermal suite and relaxation area with heated loungers, a new Jacuzzi room, a sauna, steam room and water therapy experience. It’s my favorite place to relax on a sea day!
The ship will emerge with additional and renovated staterooms with contemporary design.
The Norwegian Spirit's post-dry dock itinerary includes a series of 17, 20 and 28-day voyages from Italy, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa. She will then homeport in Athens, Greece in mid- April.
